Tips to Help Sell Your Florida Home
The Florida housing market is strong. Are you considering selling your home? The Elite Power Wash team has some tips to help you sell your Florida home. If you live in our area we would love to help you get your home ready to be listed and sold quickly!
Focus on Curb Appeal
The first impression people see is the exterior of your home. Keep the yard mowed. Plant colorful flowers. Trim trees and shrubs. Power wash the exterior of your home. Over time dirt and algae grows on the outside of your home. Spider webs need to be washed away. Put your best foot forward by keeping the exterior looking clean and well maintained. And while you’re at it clean the walkways, driveway, and windows. They start to look dark and unkempt as well. The exterior of your home should give a great first impression that makes people want to come inside.
Fix the Small Things
Everyone has things in their home that need fixing. Stop procrastinating and fix them. Things like a dripping faucet or torn window screens are easy to fix. A prospective buyer looking at your home sees small things needing repair. Then they wonder what unseen large things need fixing.
Clean Your Carpets
When you live in the same home for a long time you lose the ability to smell things. This is especially true if you have pets. The smell of your home can very off-putting to someone entering your home. Rent a carpet cleaner and do it yourself, or have a professional come in. You want your home to smell fresh and welcoming.
Use Neutral Colors on Your Interior Walls
Dark and intense colors come and go in popularity. You may like your red or dark blue walls. New buyers have a difficult time envisioning their furniture with your intense colors. Neutral colors are inviting. They will make your home a ‘blank slate that can accommodate anyone’s furniture style. Choose a soft beige or grey color that is warm looking. Don’t paint the walls white!
Unclutter Your Home
Clear the kitchen counter. Tidy up the laundry room. Clean out your closets. Organize your cupboards. Unclutter your home as much as possible. Put things in storage if you need to. Leave enough furniture so a new buyer can envision how the furniture fits in the room. A clean home looks spacious and inviting. A cluttered home feels like it’s too small and they won’t have enough room. If you have anything broken or in need of repair get rid of it. Pack up your bookshelves as you’re planning on moving anyway.
Update Kitchen Hardware
Put new hardware on your kitchen cupboards and drawers. You’ll be surprised at the transformation you’ll see in your kitchen. It’s a low-cost way to update the kitchen.
Show any documents that apply to things in your home. If you installed a new heat pump or furnace two years ago show the information and the warranty. A new water heater with a 10-year warranty? Show them there are things that they won’t need to worry about. Interested buyers want to know the age of important parts of your home. Displaying the information will make a difference in how quickly sell your home sells.
